Web Site Launch

web site construction

Back in March, I lamented about the process of trying to get published.  One of the unexpected tasks on a checklist of odious chores I needed to complete to get the process going in earnest was to create my own web site. Keep in mind that I am technically illiterate and didn’t have a clue about web site construction.

Well, I am happy to announce that finally, more than three months after beginning the construction process, and with a lot of help from Josh Lavallee of Mod MDCL, the web site is completed and ready for prime time.

Please take a few minutes to visit the site: stevemarkesich.com and let me know what you think. I would be interested in knowing what you don’t like or what is cumbersome than your unadulterated praise, although that’s welcome too.

I’d also like to thank Grace and Susan for generously donating their time to read the novel and offer their thoughts, which you can find on the site. I won’t tell you however where on the site you can find their reviews. I’d rather have you work to locate them, which means you will have had to look at all the tabs and do some navigation. I hope to add a few more in the ensuing weeks from some faithful followers.

Now that the site is built, query letters to prospective publishers are supposed to go out next month. Wish me luck!

  1. First, I have to thank you for allowing me to be one of your early readers. It really was an honor Steve, and you wrote one amazing book!!! I was looking at the site and trying to find something clunky, but I couldn’t find anything. It is really clean looking and easy to navigate. I like how the contact me stuff appears on more than one page. The picture of you is great! …ok, I went back and looked again and there is one thing that just seems a bit random. It is the Get Busy Living quote on the front page; I love the quote and it so fits the book, but it feels like it should link to something maybe……it is super minor and only stood out to me on a second navigation. I am going to send a link to Joe so he can have a look as well; he is a website designer. I think it looks great, and even for a non tech person like me, it was easy to navigate. I am excitedly awaiting my signed copy of the book!!!!!!!

    1. Joe just looked at it and he says it looks great; he explained what the area of the site I mentioned, is used for, so totally ignore my earlier comment about randomness. Wonderful site!!!! You are going to soar high, my friend!

  2. First of all, I am so incredibly sorry I did not get you my testimonial on just how fabulous your book was! So much of your book resonated with me in many ways. There were so many moments while I was reading that you brought me to tears. You wrote one amazing book and I really am so sorry I did not my testimonial to you. It really has been a trying few months and I feel like I am not yet out of the woods, but who knows.

Second, your page looks wonderful! You never seize to amaze the heck out of me with how knowledgeable you are and how much heart and soul you put into everything you do!!! I am wishing the best of luck with anything and everything you do, but I have no doubts you will soar with success!

    1. You can still send the testimonial at any time of you want. There are a handful of folks, including my neurologist, I am waiting to hear from but I didn’t want to let that get in the way of launching the site. It will be a living, breathing thing, so if you can still send something whenever you are ready. No pressure

  3. Hi, Steve.
I recently checked out your website and think it’s pretty good accessibility wise.
Your website is easy to navigate and isn’t too complicated to get around with my screen reader.
Also, I read the first forty pages of your book and am impressed.
Speaking of which, is there any chance you can make the book into an accessible format so I can read the whole thing once it’s published?
If not, that’s completely fine; I was simply curius.
Also, would it be okay to friend you on Facebook?
We can talk more about the book there.
    Regards,
    The Aspiring Writer

  4. I appreciate you taking the time to look at the site. Thank you. And yes, you can friend me on Facebook and connect on LinkedIn as well. I would like that

I am sure that if it gets published it will be available in a variety of formats. Assuming that day comes I will make an announcement on the blog. I may not remember your request so if you see the announcement please remind me

  5. My initial viewing was a pleasurable one! I found the testimonials with ease, and loved ’em. 🙂 The site is remarkably easy to navigate and I can’t wait to read the preview… so far, so good. I’ll let you know what else I find!
